The law also requires the landlords to disclose if there is lead-based paint on the property so that tenants can be aware of it.

I am buying a property, should I get it tested for lead-based paint?

If your property dates back to before the 1980s and you are planning to purchase it, it’s best to get it tested for lead-based paint. Lead-based paint was used up until 1978 and can still be present on walls, windows and doors. By getting it tested you can protect your family from exposure to lead and its hazardous effects.
